The Antichrist

Even Satan believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That is why to test this Satan tempted Him, to fall Him in the trap by showing His power. But Jesus Christ knew this, and of course, he will not fall in this trap.

“The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God,…”

Demons too knew this; they knew that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

“And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.”

My question is, “If Satan and his legions knew and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, then Satan is not the Antichrist. If Satan is not the Antichrist, then who is he?

We read in 1 John 5:1,

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the father loves [also] the one begotten by him.”

And again in 1 John 2:22-23,

“Who is the liar? Whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Whoever denies the Father and the Son, this is the antichrist. No one who denies the Son has the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.”

Therefore, Satan is not the Antichrist. The antichrist is the one who denies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, “is begotten by God”. Therefore who is the antichrist?

Prominent are the doctrines of Islam and the Iglesia ni Cristo who denies Jesus Christ is the Son of God and believed Him only as a mere prophet.

Long before these two religions existed, St. Paul foretold them already.
